Today our team finished ministry early and decided to go on a “treasure hunt.” A treasure hunt is another term for asking the Lord for clues to who He would have us minister to.
Team Now prayed silently together, then one by one shared out words or pictures they received during prayer.
Purple and Yellow Flowers
An elderly person
A woman wearing a handkerchief
A bench
A red shirt
One of the ladies on the team wasn’t feeling well and needed to go back to the ministry house. While the rest of the team went left in search of their “treasure” we turned right, towards home.
While walking, we chatted about the day’s events. What was for dinner and a list of our favorites were hot topics of conversation. As we strolled along, I glanced up to see none other than an elderly woman, sitting on a bench, wearing a handkerchief around her head surrounded by yellow and purple flowers.
I snapped a quick pic because I was seriously in shock of how detailed the scene was ahead of me.
Amelia and I approached the woman, we asked for her name. Claudia, she said. We introduced ourselves and carried on a conversation using broken English and the little Romanian we had learned.
She was beautiful. With gold dangly earrings. She asked why we didn’t wear jewelry. I showed her my key necklace and explained what it meant.
We laughed together and pointed to our house and the church.
The next morning on our way to ministry, we saw a young boy, roughly 11 years old carrying 2 coffees walking toward the house with the bench.
“Good morning!” we said.
“Good morning!” he replied. “Are you Americans?” he asked.
“Yes! My name is Amie Beth and this is Cheree.”
“I’m Alex!” he said enthusiastically.
Just then, the gate opened and out walked Claudia, his mother. Alex, who spoke perfect English, introduced us and we were able to connect even more!
Claudia offered us the coffee as we said our goodbyes and headed to the church.
I’m so thankful, that even when our plans change and things don’t turn out the way we think they should, the Lord shows up and places people in our paths to bless and encourage.
